NZ Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) is a high-quality hardwood timber native to south-east Australia and established in NZ for well over 100 years. It is a very sought after timber for its rich dark colour and fine finish. Our Blackwood has been sustainably grown in the forests of South Westland New Zealand. These forests were established by the NZ Forest Service in the early 1980’s as a replacement species for the dwindling rimu supply. We produce and stock three grades: Heart Clears, Colour Clears and Feature Grade.

We have 2 sizes available in each grade. The wide 130mm boards and the narrower 84mm boards. The 84mm boards are more suitable for hot or demanding applications like rooms with underfloor heating. Standard thickness is 19mm.

Why should you choose our solid flooring?

Need a thinner solid board as an overlay? We do have some stock of heart and colour clears in a more cost effective 12mm thickness, both 84mm and 130mm widths. These products are designed to be glued down over a solid base like concrete, plywood, chipboard or other solid existing floor. 12mm overlay products are not end matched. Please inquire….
