Genuine japanese cedar, grown in Japan. Tight knot all heartwood shiplap cladding. Available in 3m and 4m lengths.

Available in bandsawn face or smooth face. Perfect for “YakiSugi” burnt cedar projects. Or may be finished with conventional finishes.

This is the only product that we import. It is a very good match for our sustainable NZ grown timbers that we produce here on the West Coast. Japanese cedar has a millennia-long usage history as a sustainable, environmentally friendly and totally fit-for-purpose product.

We machine this here in NZ so we can do any of the standard profiles.

Naturally durable NZ plantation grown preservative-free timber! Western Red Cedar (Thuja Plicata) is one of the worlds premier timber species, attractive in appearance, free of resin, aromatic, light in weight, dimensionally stable, and easy to work and finish.

This product is sourced from remnant NZ Forest service plantings dating from the 1930’s and 1940’s in South Westland, south of Hokitika.
These plantings grew very slowly on the poor glacial soils, and consequently have yielded weatherboard grade timber which is very tight grain and outstanding quality in a tight knot all heartwood grade. An amazing looking natural weatherboard cladding

This listing is for standard 190*19 bevel back weatherboards, with a cover per board of 160mm.
Bandsawn face is also available ….$0.80 extra per lm.

Random lengths up to 5.4m.

All other profiles are available..usually no extra cost, although machine set-up charges may apply on small orders, less than 1000m.
