April 2025, Blackwood logging is underway!
Our blackwood flooring stock is getting very low. We are down to our last 10 packs of dry stock to be machined so we are very happy to have a logging crew starting this month to get some more blackwood in the system. 
Christmas shutdown.
SawmillDirect is closing for the Christmas break from lunchtime on Thursday 19th December and reopening again 7 am Monday 13th January 2025.

October 2024 update
We have very slow grown local western red cedar cladding stock coming out of the kiln every week now. This stock all came from 80 yr old trees, grown in Mahinapua Forest, (south of Hokitika and owned by Ngai Tahu) and is some of the best quality we have seen. This is a great alternative for imported Canadian cedar weatherboards.
Locally grown Western red cedar is now in stock. Heres a pic of some of the air drying stock.
We have packs coming out of the kiln every week and available for machining to your requirements.

We are currently cutting some really slow grown WRC from mahinapua forest. This is the best quality cedar we have seen for some time, 80 yr old trees and the first of this will be dry and ready for machining by late FEB 2024. We are taking orders now for this stock, all products ex 150*25 and 200*25.
We are closing for the xmas holidays from Wednesday 20th December and will be reopening for timber dispatching from Monday 15th January.

Cost effective solid macrocarpa TG flooring and weatherboards now in stock.
A new product for May 2023. We have a FSC certified log supply for this and it will complement our solid NZ Blackwood and native flooring products.

Sawmill Direct 2022 Christmas hours
Sawmill Direct will be closed for dispatching from Friday 23 December until Friday 13th January. The office will be open for quoting and correspondence from Monday 9th Jan, and for dispatching and timber sales from Monday 16th Jan.

November update:
New stock of imported japanese cedar due in on 17th November. 150*25 and 150*50 cladding stock is available. Macrocarpa stock is due out of kiln this month and blackwood flooring is out the door as fast as we can get it back from the machine shop. We have completed our new blackwood flooring cut at the sawmill and this stock is all in strip being air dried.
